Case Study: Costain Masterclass – Levelling Up Your Team’s Communication Skills

We were privileged to be invited to the Costain Team Away Day event at their headquarters in London, where we presented a two-hour masterclass in-person with 30 team leaders from across the country.
Our Program Included:
- Body and Voice Alignment: Focused on seated body posture to facilitate a clearer understanding of the body as the supporting mechanism for the voice.
- Breath Technique: Techniques to combat nerves during presentations.
- Voice Technique: Exploration of upper and lower resonance and tonal qualities of the voice.
- Public Speaking: Group vocalisation and individual presentation and conversation exercises.
The Results:
- Improved Vocal Confidence and Self-Expression: Participants felt more confident and expressive in their vocal delivery.
- Freer Physical Freedom and Body Language: Enhanced physical presence and body language.
- Team Bonding: Strengthened connections and camaraderie among team members.
- Greater Understanding of Cultural Differences: Improved awareness of the impact of language and cultural diversity within the team.
In Conclusion:
The workshop was a delightful experience, taking the team outside their ‘corporate’ comfort zone and highlighting the unique differences within the team. The participants had great fun and recognised the lack of cohesion and understanding they previously had of their colleagues. They gained a greater appreciation and understanding of each other, leading to a more cohesive and effective team.
